Think back to all the times you’ve stood facing Allah in prayer. 10, 15, 20, even 30 years of salah! Now that should be impressive, but it’s not because while we can account for their number, what can we possibly say of their quality?
Now think about this. The first thing we will be questioned about on the Day of Judgement is our prayers. What will our excuse be? What will we have to fall back on?
By the mercy of Allah, you are alive and healthy. You have been given ability and intellect enough to be reading this right now. Alhamdulilah! But what is greater than all of this is that you have in your possession the greatest blessing given to mankind – time. Time is what we fall back on. I’ll have time to do it all later...but, will you? All that you really have is this moment – what will you do with it? Seize it, or squander it?
Dear brother or sister, this is YOUR opportunity to spend 2 full weekends – that’s an entire 6 days – learning IN DEPTH about the most important act of worship you will ever perform. The time to change is now, so what are you waiting for?
Join us at the Islamic Center of Detroit on Friday March 12th for a powerful khutba that will be given by our beloved Shaykh Yaser Birjas. See link below for all of the specific information regarding the event.
Yaser Birjas is originally from the holy land of Palestine and was born in Kuwait. He graduated as class valedictorian with the highest honors from University of Madinah's College of Shariah (Fiqh and Usul) in 1996. He had the honor to interact and learn from a number of highly respected scholars such as Shaikh Ash-Shanqitee and Shaikh Al-Uthaimeen (rahimahu Allah).
After graduating from the University of Madinah, Yaser Birjas went on to work as a youth counselor and relief program aide in war-torn Bosnia. Thereafter, he immigrated to the U.S. where he is presently an Imam (spiritual leader and advisor) at The Islamic Center in El Paso, Texas. He is also an instructor at AlMaghrib Institute, an organization that provides trademark double-weekend seminars leading its students towards a bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies.
His two most recent courses of instruction with AlMaghrib Institute are Heavenly Hues: Thematic Tasfir; which focuses on the study of the Quran through the themes that are within it; and The Blessed Standing: Fiqh of Salah which deals with the rulings and etiquettes associated with the perfection of prayer, the types of prayers, and contemporary issues regarding salah.
